Florida Cracker Sheep are a heritage breed that developed naturally over the last 500 years and are uniquely adapted to the harsh Florida environment. They are one of the oldest sheep breeds in North America and are listed as critically endangered with The Livestock Conservancy. With their strong parasite resistance, high lamb survivability, heat tolerance, excellent mothering instincts, mild meat flavor, and good flocking, this wool sheep breed offers a compelling combination of desirable traits.
At K&M Farmstead, our sheep are an integral part of our farm family, receiving abundant love and attention. Each ram and ewe has its own unique personality and voice, and they joyfully respond to their names when called.
Our Florida Cracker sheep are raised exclusively on nutrient-rich pasture, local perennial peanut hay, and fresh treats harvested from our gardens. We practice rotational grazing across our six paddocks to optimize pasture and animal health. Our flock is sheared annually, with lambing occurring each spring.
