Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), also known as Indian Ginseng or Winter Cherry, is a prominent evergreen shrub native to parts of Asia and Africa. Widely used for millennia in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, it is classified as an adaptogen—a substance that helps the body adapt to and resist physical and mental stress. Its health benefits are primarily driven by bioactive compounds called withanolides, which are concentrated mostly in the roots of the plant.
